The PADI Specialty Diver/Master Scuba Diver Ratings

Choose from a variety of Specialty Diver ratings and Improve Your Scuba! Accumulate 5 Specialties and a Rescue Diver certification and attain the highest non-professional rating in the PADI system :- MASTER SCUBA DIVER. Or, collect Specialties as you progress through Professional PADI membership levels and teach them to others.
  • Junior Level- age 10 or above.
  • Standard Level- age 15 or above.

Prerequisite:

Specialty Diver prerequisites vary from Open Water Diver or equivalent, to Adventure Diver or equivalent, with some more advanced specialties requiring Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent. See list below. Age requirements and medical evaluation correspond with previous courses.

A Standard Learning Agreement must be reviewed and signed in addition to course paperwork. Once registered, any session the student misses must be made up at an extra charge or during the next regular course schedule, or forfeit remaining course fees.

Course outline:

The purpose of a PADI Specialty Course is to familiarise divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organisation, techniques, hazards and enjoyment of diving in a fun environment. 

Boat diver

  • Minimum requirement age 10 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Junior Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 2 open water dives
  • cost $190 plus equipment

Deep diver

  • Minimum requirement age 15 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 4 open water dives
  • cost $350 plus equipment

Digital Photography

  • Minimum requirement age 12 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI (Jr.) Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 2 open water dives,
  • cost $270 plus equipment, Excl. manual (includes camera, shoot macro and wide angle, CD included)

Diver propulsion vehicle (DPV)

  • Minimum requirement age 12 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Open Water or equivalent

Fish ID

  • Minimum requirement age 10 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Junior Open Water or equivalent

Multi level diver

  • Minimum requirement age 12 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session “the Wheel”, 2 open water dives,

Naturalist

  • Minimum requirement age 10 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Junior Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 2 open water dives,
  • cost $210 plus equipment Incl. Fish slate and disposable u/w camera

Night diver

  • Minimum requirement age 12 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 3 open water dives,
  • cost $330 plus equipment

Oxygen

  • Minimum requirement age 12 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Open Water or equivalent CPR certification
  • 1 classroom session (approx. 2 hours),
  • cost $150, minimum 2 people

Search and recovery

  • Minimum requirement age 12 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 4 open water dives,
  • cost $330 plus equipment. Minimum 2 people

Underwater navigation

  • Minimum requirement age 12 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 3 open water dives, plus an extra dive
  • cost $330 plus equipment

Peak performance bouyancy

  • Minimum requirement age 10 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Junior Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 2 open water dives,
  • cost $270 plus equipment

Wreck diver

  • Minimum requirement age 15 years.
  • Prerequisite certification PADI Advanced Open Water or equivalent
  • 1 theory session, 4 open water dives,
  • cost $350 plus equipment

Course Fees:

Fees vary depending on course. Ask our staff for a quote on individual specialties or a rate for proceeding through to Master Scuba Diver.

PLEASE NOTE - if you would like to participate in the Lesson and Dive program, or any of our other courses or specialties, please review the Medical Questionnaire. If you would answer "YES" to any of the questions on this form, then you should take a completed and signed hard copy of this form to your primary physician and ask them to examine you with specific reference to SCUBA diving, as far in advance as possible before you plan to dive.

A parent or legal guardian must sign on behalf of anyone under the age of 18.
